Around Galle, Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna

It is not just surfing we have it around us.

We have plenty of sites for you to visit, from the nostalgic UN heritage site of Galle Fort to three different beaches, cinnamon peeling families, a tea plantation, an unspoiled old Buddhist temple , an architect’s tropical garden or a simple bicycle ride through the village is some of the places you can explore.  We would be happy to be part of these explorations.

Galle Fort:

A 400 year old UNESCO heritage site was first build by the Portuguese in 1588 before the Dutch fortified it in the 17th century. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument which has been extensively reconstructed to it s present day glory.
You will love walking around this little European corner with cafes, shops, arcades and tiny alleys.

Tea Plantation:

A visit to a famous Ceylon tea plantation will not only educate you on tea processing, but will also provide you the opportunity of tasting different teas.

Cinnamon families:

The little island is famous for tea, but a lesser known fact is that she does produce the world’s finest cinnamon. Cinnamon Verum or Ceylon cinnamon has more health benefits than any of the other plants of the same kind .You can walk up to witness a cinnamon peeling family,  working to produce this spice.

Visiting an isolated authentic Buddhist temple steeped in history of 300 years with interesting original temple drawings and mural paintings, where hardly any foreign visitors are seen is the best way to observe the traditions and the culture of the nation.

Snorkeling, diving, swimming with the turtles or simply walking 2 km long beach is part of the stay too.
